Preview of Zodiac Workout by Sherene Schostak and Ashley Maher. Full-length DVD at Fitness Organica, http://www.fitnessorganica.com/produc...
Combine movements from yoga, ballet, Pilates, and bellydance with the philosophy of astrology, and voila! -- you have the first ever Zodiac Workout. The idea behind the program is that each sign of the zodiac (based on your birth date) corresponds to a different part of the body. A person who, for example, is a Taurus may find themselves prone to stiff necks, and the Taurus portions of this DVD workout will address that. However, you aren't and shouldn't be restricted to only one zodiac sign in the workout, because you need to keep the entire body in good working order. So what you might do, as an example, is use the entire workout as a main part of your overall fitness program, and then on days you have stiff or sore areas or are time-crunched, do your own particular sign or whatever other sign you might need that day.
There are two major sections to the workout. The first is the warmup (40 minutes), which is really a mini-workout in itself, containing stretch, ballet, and Pilates movements. Second, there is the dance section (20 minutes), which is more active than the warmup with more vigorous movements. Each of these major sections is subdivided into the 12 signs of the zodiac so you can easily skip to a particular sign if you want to. The menu also contains a very handy chart showing the different conditions and areas of the body relating to each sign. There is even an option to select male or female narration.
To complete the package, you get a very nice 16-page booklet that goes into more detail about each zodiac sign and how the workout relates to each. Just to give you an example of some of what you'll find, I'll use Sagittarius to illustrate: Work with Sagittarius if you feel bored or uninspired or if you have any problems with your hips or thighs. In the dance segment, focus on sharp, extended, and expansive movements to generate energy. This is just a short paraphrased excerpt; the full explanation is more detailed.
