Born in 1960, Maekawa crafts this beloved piece using the distinctive Okinawan scale, colloquial Okinawan jargon, and catchy hayashi (chorus) chants, making it a staple in festivals and communal gatherings. Its joyful call to dance and sing reflects the spirit of "Mo Ashibi," traditional Okinawan social gatherings, while invoking local imagery like crabs and spiritual references to prosperity.
