International LDS artist Alex Boyé opened the devotional with a vibrant, soul-stirring performance of “Little Drummer Boy,” infused with his signature Africanness and joyful stage presence. Backed by the vocals of Daysha Lassiter, and the talented students of BYU’s Rhythm N’ Soul Collective, and the dynamic Ngoma y’Africa Cultural Center drummers and dancers along with the Afro Flexaz dancers , the number blended rhythm, movement, and testimony into an electrifying expression of praise.
The pounding drums, expressive choreography, and Alex’s powerful vocals transformed the classic Christmas song into a celebration of offering our gifts to Christ—no matter how simple—filled with heart, culture, and exuberant worship.
