Back at the Lianzhou Airport after one week, this time for a very short flight in the Italian-built Vulcanair V1.0 powered by a Lycoming IO-360 engine. While externally similar to the Cessna 172, the interior felt very different from the 172s I have flown being narrower, tighter in terms of space between the seat and the panel, and with a very modern glass Garmin G500 avionics suite. All the flying during this short demo was done by the very professional instructor, who had trained in New Jersey.
After takeoff, some steep turns and low-G manouevers were performed before rejoining the pattern and making a smooth landing. From a passenger's perspective, the V1.0 seems a very stable flyer and solid airframe.
