As great power rivalries come to the fore and the liberal 'rules-based order' continues to fray, European leaders are talking openly about turning the EU into a superpower on par with China, Russia and the US.
The European Union wants to get richer by finalising trade deals, stronger by boosting military spending and bigger by speeding up the accession process for candidate countries.
But how realistic is it to get 27 different countries to all push in one direction?
And could the push for a 'super Europe' actually fracture it further?
