Capacity building is an important component of the Nippon Foundation GEBCO Training Program and its success is evident from the perspectives of former students and members of the international ocean mapping community. The Nippon Foundation GEBCO Training Program at the Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping / Joint Hydrographic Center (CCOM/JHC) of the University of New Hampshire was founded in 2004. Students who participate in the program come from a variety of backgrounds and receive a Postgraduate Certificate in Ocean Bathymetry.
