PLO leader Yasser Arafat on Tuesday (28/2) called Jewish
settlements a "cancer" on Palestinian land and a violation of the
peace deal with Israel. By using "this settlement cancer ... they (the Israelis) are trying to swallow the land," Arafat said at the opening of a business conference in the self-ruled Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, in southern Lebanon, Israel's militia allies on Tuesday (28/2) released a group of 27 prisoners from an Israeli-controlled jail. North of the security zone, three arab guerrillas were killed on
Tuesday by SLA gunfire.
