Jhelum Recedes, But Flood Alert Continues in Srinagar | River Still Above Flood Mark
The River Jhelum continued to recede across key gauge stations on Friday morning, bringing some relief after days of heavy rainfall. However, at Ram Munshi Bagh in Srinagar, the water level remained above the flood declaration mark, prompting authorities to continue monitoring the situation closely.
According to the Irrigation & Flood Control (I&FC) Department, the water level at Ram Munshi Bagh was recorded at 19.07 feet, above the 18-foot flood declaration mark but below the 21-foot danger mark, with levels showing a declining trend.
Sangam and Pampore also witnessed falling water levels, while Asham and Wular recorded slight rises but remained below flood limits. Among the tributaries, Vishow Nallah was rising, Rambiyara and Sindh were receding, while Lidder and Doodhganga remained stable.
Authorities have urged residents, especially those living near riverbanks and embankments, to stay alert and follow official advisories as the situation continues to evolve.
