The Saraswathi Veena requires restoration work every now and then . Skilled artisans who do this, literally breathe life into the instrument. A poorly maintained veena does not give the pleasant vocal timbre that is natural to it.
Do watch this video and appreciate the amount of work that goes into restoring a veena's melam.
