If you're in the market for a thin, metallic, drop-rated case, you should definitely check out the Moshi Armour. It will wear better than other metallic products but doesn’t handle as well as the average case.
For my Moshi Armor review for the iPhone 7, I’ve given this case a score of 3.9 Eh’s out of 5. The Moshi Armor scores better than the average case for design but scores a little lower . If you’re looking for similarily rated cases, check out the Gear 4 Mayfair and the Tech 21 Evo Mesh. If you’re wondering what my the best slim cases for the iPhone 7 is, check out my website.
At MobileReviewsEh, we’ve spent so much money on breaking iPhones that we can’t afford to break anymore. But that’s ok because we’ve already dropped an iPhone in the 6 versions and thanks to Apple’s general lack of interest in updating the design of the iPhone 7, what we did a year ago is still relevant! But that doesn’t mean we still didn’t put it through it’s paces.
The Moshi Armor, according to my scoring system, is one of the best designed cases despite Moshi removing the rubber strips on the back of the case. The Moshi Armor, is one of the thinnest cases that we’ve reviewed, adding only 1.2mm’s to the iPhone and it still has clearance for a screen protector.
The metal back on the case is attached securely to the case which as multiple installs and removal hasn’t had an adverse effect. However, when the iPhone slides around easily when placed on its back which isn’t great. The case is quite light and unlike other metallic cases, will wear better over time as the corners of the case aren’t metallic. From my perspective, the case is still a bit slick and despite the cutout and rubbery edges, doesn’t handle as well as other cases like this Tech 21 Evo Mesh.
For protection, the Moshi Armor is drop-rated so it will protect your iPhone from at least 4ft as it is certified MilSTd 810G without any drop heights. The case edges are quite rigid so I do believe it will offer better face first drop-protection than other cases. Dust and debris protection is a tad below average as there is a cutout on the back of the case which exposes your iPhone a bit more. And like most cases, the Armor doesn’t come with a screen protector.
Accessing your iPhone is decent. The buttons are easy to use through the case and the port cutout are decently sized. The Moshi Armor is one of the few cases that has a separate cutout for the flash which looks better than the giant cutouts on other cases but the flash gets cropped. I don’t think the average person is going to notice that cropping of the flash but it is something worth noting.
