Jennifer D. Madera

Jennifer has been in the Human Services field working intensively with at-risk youth for the last 18 years and at Children’s Village for the last 14 years. Presently, Jennifer is the Director of The Sanctuary Runaway and Homeless Youth Shelter and Safe Harbor Services serving CSEC youth throughout New York state. In 2012, she was asked to collaborate with WCDSS and her CV Colleagues to develop programming and implement services for Sexually Exploited Minors and those who are At-Risk of being victimized. She developed a research-based curriculum currently used in weekly Psychoeducational groups and she facilitates therapeutic sessions in the community with young survivors. Safe Harbor services are comprised of these groups in the community as well as a 5-bed residential facility called Empower House serving young women in foster care ages 12-21. Jennifer obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology through Mercy College. She received her master’s degree in School Psychology through Iona and is presently Certified in Anger Management. Jennifer has training in CBT and DBT with expertise in underage Victims of Commercial Sexual Exploitation and Interventions to address the needs of this population.
