The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) released preliminary data for April 2026 on the “Manufacturing Index (Production, Shipments, Inventory, Production Capacity, Capacity Utilization) and Manufacturing Production Forecast Index” on May 29, 2026.

This statistics aims to grasp activities related to production, shipments, and inventories at domestic establishments producing industrial goods, the operating status of manufacturing facilities, and trends in the production capacity of various equipment. Additionally, the Manufacturing Production Forecast Index, released simultaneously with the preliminary report, enables the assessment of trends for the next two months based on production plans.
