BUSHNELL NEO ION REVIEW

Golf professional Todd Kolb with another pro review, and today I’m taking a look at the Neo iON watch by Bushnell Golf. When we start looking at watches and GPS devices, of course, the first thing that you want to look for is accuracy, right? I mean, it’s all about how accurate the device is; and if you know anything about Bushnell—which I’ve known them for years—you know that they are the leaders in the industry. And if you go to a major event—a PGA Tour event or an LPGA event—and you look at what the caddies are using to calculate distances, it’s a Bushnell. So you know right away, if you buy a Bushnell product, you’re going to get accuracy. And that’s what you are going to find with this particular watch.

I want to talk a little bit about some of the features that come with it in terms of like a watch. So first of all, when I got it and took it out of the box, charged it with the USB—very simple and easy, plugged it into the wall—and it was easy to use there, easy to charge. It has a great feature with the GPS, so I just loaded that up, and it starts calculating where I’m at; gives me the date, gives me the time, all those types of things, it’s ready to go there.

It’s got some of your standard features that come with a watch that are pretty helpful—stopwatch, an alarm, you can track how many steps you’ve taken—so it’s got all those features that you’re looking for with a standard watch. Also the style, it fit on my wrist; it’s easy to use; I can wear it on the golf course; it’s not affecting my golf swing; I like that feature. And then also it’s pretty stylish. I can wear it out at night.

Of course, you’re a golfer though. We want to know what do we get when we take it to the golf course. Well first of all, you’re going to get 35,000 golf courses that are preloaded. Best part is you don’t have to pay for those. You don’t have to join a membership; they’re already preloaded, they’re ready to go. It also has auto hole advancement, so as you’re playing a round of golf, it just advances to the next hole. It gives you the standard distances that you need—to the front, to the middle, to the back. It’s got a really cool feature that kind of even tells you how far the distances are to like hazards and things like that. And also a new feature called a Distance Calculator, that kind of gives you an idea of how far you’re hitting golf shots.

So if you’re looking for something that’s easy to use, and you want something that’s accurate, and you want something that’s going to last a long time, the battery on the thing is phenomenal. It’s going to last over 3 rounds, so you don’t have to worry about charging it all the time. This is a watch I’m going to highly recommend; but of course, for golfers, you want accuracy and you want to know how far you are from the hole. Bushnell is definitely the leader in this, and this watch is one that I’m going to highly recommend.
