خوب پردہ ہے کہ چلمن سے لگے بیٹھے ہیں
صاف چھپتے بھی نہیں، سامنے آتے بھی نہیں

What a veil this is — You sit just behind the curtain.
You do not fully hide, yet You refuse to appear.


ہو چکا قطع تعلق تو جفائیں کیوں ہیں
جس سے مطلب ہی نہ رہا اس کو ستاتے بھی نہیں

If all ties are broken, then why these cruelties still?
One does not torment whom he no longer claims.

دیکھتے ہی مجھے محفل میں یہ ارشاد ہوا
کون بیٹھا ہے؟ اسے لوگ اٹھاتے بھی نہیں

The moment I was seen in the gathering, it was declared:
“Who is he sitting there? People do not even bother to remove him.”


کم سنی کا یہ تقاضا کہ جنازے پہ مرے
پاس آتے بھی نہیں، ہاتھ لگاتے بھی نہیں

زیست سے تنگ ہو اے داغ تو جیتے کیوں ہو
جان پیاری بھی نہیں، جان سے جاتے بھی نہیں
