Exercise – 8.2
1. Identify the altitudes of the following figures:
(i) (figure of triangle with altitude marked)
(ii) (figure of triangle with altitude marked)
(iii) (figure of parallelogram with altitude marked)
2. Calculate the area and perimeter for each of these parallelograms, trapeziums and triangles:
(i) Parallelogram: base = 3 cm, height = 8 cm
(ii) Parallelogram: base = 10 cm, height = 4 cm
(iii) Trapezium: parallel sides = 4 cm, 8 cm, height = 3 cm
(iv) Parallelogram: base = 5 cm, height = 7 cm, side = 3 cm
(v) Triangle: base = 6 cm, height = 4 cm
(vi) Triangle: base = 10 cm, height = 4 cm, side = 5 cm
3. Find the area of each shaded shape:
(i) Trapezium inside a square (dimensions: square side = 8 cm, trapezium top = 4 cm, bottom = 8 cm, height = 4 cm)
(ii) Triangle inside a square (dimensions: base = 8 cm, height = 4 cm)
(iii) Trapezium: top base = 4 cm, bottom base = 10 cm, height = 7 cm
4. The area of a parallelogram is 126 cm² and its perpendicular height is 9 cm. Find its base. Also, calculate its perimeter.
5. The base and area of a parallelogram is 9 cm and 99 cm² respectively. Find its perpendicular height.
6. The parallel sides of a trapezium are 25 cm and 30 cm and its area is 192.5 cm². What is the height of trapezium?
7. A trapezium has a longer base that is 25 cm and the height is 5 cm. The area of trapezium is 200 cm². What is the shorter base of the trapezium?
8. The height of a triangular garden is 55 m and base is 90 m. Find the number of flowers in the garden if 20 flowers are in the area of each square metre.
