Описание: 양영주 작가는 미시세계의 운동성과 그것이 인간의 감각-트랜스액션 반응으로 어떻게 연결되는지를 상상하고 탐구해왔다. 작가는 한국생명공학연구원 양지현 박사와 협업하여 바이러스의 전염, 변이, 면역의 양상에 주목하였고, 이를 현대사회 욕망에 비유해 시각적으로 표현한다. 인간은 생존을 위해 사회적으로 코드화-탈코드화된 욕망을 추구하는 사회적 동물이며, 작가는 이러한 욕망이 어떻게 전염되고 변이하는지에 주목한다. 개개인의 욕망들을 바이러스에 비유하며, 어디에서 비롯되었을지 어디로 향하는지에 대한 질문을 던진다.
아날로그 물감의 물질적 특성과 디지털 기술에서 발생하는 랜덤성은 작업과정과 감상에서 모두 끊임없이 상호작용한다. 물리적 질성과 디지털에서 가우시안 노이즈의 특성이 서로 융합해나가며, 바이러스의 변이과정을 다채로운 색감과 질감표현을 통해 엿볼 수 있도록 실험한다. 작업은 생성형 AI 모델을 활용해 유일무이한 변이 이미지를 실시간으로 출력하며, 변형하는 트랜스액션적 상호작용을 시도한다.

Yang Yeongju has been exploring the dynamics of the microscopic world and how they connect to human sensory responses through 'trans-action'. Collaborating with Dr. Yang Ji-hyun from the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology, Y. Yang examines viral transmission, mutation, and immune responses, representing these processes as metaphors for societal desires. Humans, as social beings, pursue both codified and decodified desires, and Y. Yang focuses on how these desires spread and transform. She likens individual desires to viruses, questioning their origins and future directions.
Analog paint’s materiality interacts continuously with the randomness produced by digital technology throughout the creation and viewing experience. The physical texture of paint and digital Gaussian noise merge, offering a visual experiment on viral mutation through vibrant colors and textures. Utilizing a generative AI model, Y. Yang creates unique, mutated images in real time, presenting a constantly evolving transaction.
