The classic pairing of a Sitka spruce top with East Indian rosewood sides and back produces brilliant highs, full-bodied lows and an abundance of volume and sustain that is sure to satisfy players of all types.

The Grand Auditorium Shape Simply put – this is a Bob Taylor design that came out in the early 90’s and totally changed the way guitar designers looked at guitar shape and tone! Keeping the same lower and upper bout dimensions as the Taylor dreadnought, Bob literally put this shape “on a diet” and shrunk the waist ever so slightly. This gave the guitar two distinct qualities – the most obvious being the guitar “spoke” with a whole new voice – you could “hear” this guitar in the mix better because of the way the soundboard and the body was able to project its volume in certain frequencies while still maintaining the depth and brilliance of the original dreadnought! Secondly, once you place the guitar on your lap, you also experience a whole new level of comfort because the guitar sits slightly lower – your strumming shoulder feels better and more relaxed, and your hands are able to play with much more finesse. The first time playing a Taylor GA size guitar you’ll experience a comfort level like you’ve never experienced in a full-size guitar.

Patented V-Class Bracing So let’s dive a little deeper – Simply put, Taylor Guitars revolutionary V-Class bracing helps improve sustain and volume, and allows the top of the guitar to behave in an all new way. Not only does this new design enhance volume projection and sustain, it manipulates the soundboard energy in a way that improves intonation by improving the sonic arrangement of fundamental notes and overtones. Pair this patented bracing with rich-sounding rosewood and Sitka spruce in Taylor's versatile Grand Auditorium shape, this 814ce has all the tonal depth, complexity, and versatility that you would expect, but with more overtones, sustain, and sonic horsepower.

The Taylor Expression System 2 is simply a whole new way of thinking on acoustic amplification. With most acoustic amplification systems, you really only “hear” the pickup, and you miss out on all the sonic influences that the tone-woods provide. Not with ES2! This system totally captures the natural sound of the guitar when plugged in. Simplicity in action with only three controls (ACTIVE Volume, bass, & treble) with center detent “flat” settings controls three separate piezo pick-ups mounted behind the saddle (NOT getting squeezed UNDER the saddle) to create a more clear and accurate sound. The Active system allows you to increase or decrease the desired amount of bass and treble while maintaining the midrange output exactly where it should be as well as controlling output volume. Once you hear how natural this pickup system is, you’ll never imagine how you amplified any acoustic guitar without it.
