Akshara Mana Malai is a deeply revered devotional hymn consisting of 108 verses, composed by Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi in praise of Arunachala, the sacred hill that he regarded as the embodiment of Lord Shiva. Written around the year 1914, this hymn reflects the Maharshi’s intense spiritual longing and surrender to Arunachala, expressed in the form of a bridal mysticism, where the devotee seeks union with the Divine.
In honor of its centenary in 2014, Sri Ramanasramam initiated the daily chanting of Aksara Mana Malai at 6:00 AM in the New Hall, a practice that has since continued as a source of inspiration and devotion for seekers worldwide.
