Last night we stood at the cave of Hira, where revelation descended and the Ummah of Muhammad ﷺ began.
Tonight, we travelled even further back.
Before Makkah was Makkah.
Before there were followers.
Before there were numbers.
Allah describes Nabi Ibrahim (AS) with a remarkable phrase:
“Indeed, Ibrahim was an Ummah…” (Surah An-Nahl 16:120)
How can one man be called an Ummah?
Because an Ummah is not defined by numbers — it is defined by alignment.
Ibrahim (AS) stood alone in relentless tawheed.
He rejected falsehood.
He inclined fully toward Allah.
He was obedient.
He was grateful.
He was unwavering.
And because of that, Allah granted him goodness in this world and righteousness in the next.
If we want to rebuild an Ummah today, the formula has not changed.
Revelation builds people.
People build the Ummah.
This Ramadan, the question is not:
“What is happening to the Ummah?”
The question is:
What kind of Muslim am I becoming?
