PRE-ARRIVAL: Firefighters respond and make quick work of a deck fire

Wednesday evening, Coplay Borough Fire department along with surrounding mutual aid were sent to 17 South 2nd Street for an apartment building fire. The fire dispatcher gave Chief 501 that a deck was on fire to the rear of the address.
Chief 501 arrived and reported a working deck fire and told the first-due engine to go to the rear via the alley and stretch a hand line.
Rescue 4041 (Whitehall) arrived first and had to stretch a leader line down the alley when the Engine couldn't make the turn from one alley to the other. A hand line was then stretched from the gated Y and up the rear stairs.
The fire was extinguished quickly. The crew then checked for extension.
The fire is under Investigation by the Fire Investigation Office of the Whitehall Fire Department.
