It's time for anniversary my friends. For those new to the channel this is a speculative video where I write my initial thoughts regarding the datamined sync pairs. Sometimes I'm wrong but it's all in good fun. Problem with this datamine is that there is SO MUCH content I'd simply choke on my own ambition trying to off-type CS, so I just simulated the more important banners.
My power rankings for this datamine:
Cracked: Champion Red, Champion Blue, Champion Leaf, Palmer
Broken: Variety Giovanni, Argenta
Really Good: Paulo, Dana, Ariana, Proton
Good: Archer, Petrel, BP Registeel, BP Barry, BP Olivia, BP Valerie, Tina, Lodge Leaf
Fine: BP Falkner
As for grid expansions: Hilda is more consistent but lacks power to be top meta, SS Red is more consistent and doesn't have to hamfist Haymaker out of obligation, SS Blue is excellent but constrained by energy limits, Classic Elesa could've used Terrain extension but her upgrades are great overall.
Yeah, that's quite a platter to chew on. I'll have to be succinct to fit all this within YouTube's description limit, so sorry if I appear dismissive. Let's start with the pairs I didn't cover in the run:
Dana: Meh buffing profile but the reason she is strong is SE Next. You can slot her with self-sufficient Strikers to act as a field effect substitute.
BP Registeel: Registeel really looked at SS Morty and said "I want that." Amazing tank but the excessive recovery is a band-aid for the lack of party-wide defensive buffs. Slow offensive buffs too.
Paulo: No major complaints. His MAX move solves some of his output deficiencies and makes him a good asset for Sand teams.
Tina: Really good in Gauntlet. Dire Hit All+ hard carries her kit. She wants the 6*EX to patch up her bulk.
BP Olivia: Alola REALLY appreciates a defensive tank for Battle Challenges but that's about it.
BP Barry: Great utilities, what sucks is the selfish recovery. Buffing kit is a little limited in the scope of Grass-types. People like OG Karen appreciate Barry's kit more.
BP Valerie: Waaaaaay better than the OG. Best F2P Fairy-type Striker by far, with Flinch utility and Vigilance for Gauntlet to boot.
BP Falkner: Poverty Darach. Cute reference to Falkner's GSC moveset but his debuff pace is giga-cringe. DeNA overestimates Acc debuffs and overnerfed Falkner.
Lodge Leaf: She does a lot things really well. Great gauge, great partner for Bede and SS Wally. She will solo a lot of LAs. If she had Crit buffs she'd be the best Lodge pair I think.
[0:00] - Champion Red
lol. lmao. 1/5 eviscerates most content. Overkill nuke, overkill passives. What's this for? Full Str High Score Events? Only criticism is low-ish Sp.Atk but the rebuff, Kanto Spirit, SMUN and grid multipliers MORE than make up for it.
Red's current discussion climate surrounds whether he is better than Ash. Ash has B Thunderbolt, but Red has the ever so tantalizing 100% Freeze. Problem is that it doesn't act like Staggering so you can't Freeze-lock with SS Lyra's consistency, but it functionally behaves like a Sleep chain. Enemies who can't hit you might as well be dead.
[2:26] - The Rockets
Variety Giovanni: Uhhhh SS Giovanni on crack. Great Trainer Move and the 6*EX Field + Strike Role fixes his CS performance. He does well with his coverage too.
Archer: Behaves like low DPS + high nuke utility Techs. He is dependent on Supports but this truly is the Cakewalk enabler of All Time.
Ariana: Variety Agatha but better. Very strong nuke for all the utilities she compresses. Def debuffs themselves act as an extra multiplier.
Petrel: Better Looker. He's got interesting utilities which translates to Gauntlet durability. Power ceiling is just a tad low because Sludge Bomb is cringe for today's standards.
Proton: Kinda needs 3/5 but he is incredibly disruptive. He is strong in both Gauntlet and CS because his Trainer Move lets him act as an AoE peepee stacker.
[3:51] - Palmer, Argenta
Palmer: I don't think people are grasping how insane Palmer is. He is not "just" Normal Zone. If Palmer lacked Normal Zone, the MAX move and G Giga Impact he'd still be broken as shit. All the aforementioned things push him over the edge.
Argenta: SS Acerola lite. Any physical Striker benefits from Argenta's presence. I could make a Bede video 2.0 with her because she has Team First Super Sync.
[5:34] - Champion Leaf
Suffers from "doing too many things at once" but her nuke ceiling is kind of insane. Potion makes her very consistent. Basically the ultimate Fire-type enhancer.
[7:44] - Champion Blue
Another broken piece of shit. Most broken Trainer Move to date. He does everything except Atk. Blue was getting poked for having "random stuff" like Furious Brain, but wasn't Champion Bede good for also contributing offensively? His offense is a bonus to an already broken kit.
