In this episode we talk about o piece of audio gear that many don’t talk about — batteries. And specifically, in this case, a rather innovation battery called the Powerbase Edge Snap made by a company called CORE SWX. What’s so innovative about the Snap batteries? 2 things — you can piggy back them to make increase their capacity and everything still runs through a single cable, and they use a fully USB-C compatible cable called PD Pro. Let’s take a closer look at how you can use the Snap to power your audio field recorder and wireless microphone kits.

Summary
49 Wh cine battery which can piggyback — snap — to each other so you can add power to a camera or audio recorder by just snapping on another battery (no need to power down or attach additional cables)
Charge multiple batteries with 1 USB-C cable
2 PD Pro ports — USB-C compatible, & supplies between 5 and 28V and features a more robust connection than standard USB-C with stronger connection. Green port supports up to 90W, black port up to 45W. PD Pro connector negotiates the voltage and shows the mode. Like USB-C you can plug the connector in either way. PD Pro is a platform that, in the future, can also transmit video and network.

Cons
PD Pro connectors are more robust than USB-C but do not have a metal locking mechanism (there is sort of a snap resistance sort of connection - an improvement over standard USB-C connectors, but not like a locking XLR connector)
