The Faraday Battery Challenge, in partnership with KTN, bring you a series of seminars on defining subjects for the future electrification of transport and other sectors.
Join key industry figures and leading academics as they discuss the advances that are currently being made, debate the potential that different technologies and initiatives have in transforming mobility and contributing to the success of the UK in the global energy transition.
From fundamental scientific research, through innovation programmes and manufacturing scale up, engage with the Challenge to initiate and deepen business’ involvement in its programmes.
The UK Battery Industrialisation Centre is going to be open for business later this year.
The £129m facility – the only one of its type in the world – will be used by companies and organisations with a promising new battery technology or design that they want to scale-up so long as that technology can bring growth to the UK. The technology will be at least as good as that found in any of the battery ‘Gigafactories’ being built across the globe, and will support the growth of electric vehicles and fast-track battery technology for use in rail, aerospace, industrial equipment, automotive, off highway and static energy storage.
Hear Jeff Pratt, Managing Director at the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre speak about the facility and why scale-up is key to fast tracking the development of cost-effective, high-performance, durable, safe, low-weight and recyclable batteries.
The ISCF Faraday Battery Challenge is to develop and manufacture batteries for the electrification of vehicles – £274 million over four years – to help UK businesses seize the opportunities presented by the move to a low carbon economy. The challenge is split into three elements: research, innovation, and scale-up.
Through focused capabilities, the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre will enable industry, via open access, to scale up and commercialise advanced technologies central to the development and manufacture of batteries, initially for the automotive sector but with wider application.
