Elimination Gate 4 Hazard 5 on Foreman Driller for the game Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor. I'm dubbing this: The Half-Naked Challenge! This means I have meta (and masteries since they can't be turned off), but no gear. I decided to run this challenge after I saw a lot of chatter regarding this gate being extremely difficult. This was a very spicy challenge, it very much plays like a hardcore dive.
I think some players are not stacking up enough HP and armor for this gate, as well as for haz 5 in general. I have been recommending 400-500 HP and 60-90 armor to start haz 5 dives (not just this gate) for the average player (between meta, masteries, and gear). These numbers should be pretty easy to hit on your gear with a good armor piece and maybe 1-2 other pieces with at least 1 stat of HP and/or armor (to at least hit the lower end of the range). However, you shouldn't be ignoring offensive stats like damage, reload speed, fire rate, etc. You should be going for a good balance of offensive vs. defensive stats. Normally in haz 5 I am running minimum 40% damage plus a bunch of other offensive stats depending on the class and/or build I am going.
For Gate 4, the biome is Salt Pits. The mutators were as follows:
Mandatory Pep Talk - Mining Speed and Reload Speed +10%
Gate Outbreak IV - Massive Glyphid Activity
Mite Infestation - Less Gold and Nitra
I picked Foreman primarily for the extra mining speed to take advantage of Gold and Nitra Scanners you start with. Since there isn't much gold/nitra to mine from the mutator, you should focus on mining the salt and just avoiding taking chip damage as best you can. You can bonk the Q'ronar Younglings (not the mini elites) back as long as you are facing their direction so if a bunch are rolling towards you (and you aren't facing them), turn around to bonk them away. Since I had less damage, I used the supply pods on the elites as often as possible.
For the build, I went the Subata and Impact Axes (both with acid OCs) as the carry weapons to level 18+. Picked up the Cryo Cannon for crowd control, but never got it to level 18. Grabbed the acid drones for the last weapon. Artifact spread was fine, but I was hoping to hit some better damage artifacts down the stretch. This is where having gear would have helped tremendously where you can stack up a ton of offensive stats like damage.
Rock and stone!
