Bauhaus trained, Pius Pahl, moved to the Western Cape in 1952 with his South African wife. He was a prolific architect, especially residential - the focus of this lecture.
Prof Barker, after a quick Modern Movement summary, talks about the influence of the Bauhaus right up until 1994 when Pius designed his last building. It was for the Van der Horsts who speak briefly at the end of the lecture. Architect Dr Rudolf Perold also shares his experience of living St Martini Gardens.
