This trailer presents HoloQuadrophonie, an immersive sound installation by Gerschlauer | Ullmann, realized inside the legendary dome of Berlin’s Teufelsberg and presented at the Intersonanzen Festival in Potsdam. The recording and playback technique HoloQuadrophonie was developed by sound engineer Titus Nessel.
The dome is renowned for its extreme acoustics: a startling resonance where sound reflects back at you, as if you were standing in front of yourself and hearing your voice from behind. Through extensive calculation and empirical testing, it recreates the perception of a room with only four loudspeakers from a DVD-Audio.
The result: the acoustics of one place can be transported into another. You don’t just hear a recording of the dome — you feel as if you’re inside it.
Teufelsberg is a mythical “lost place,” closed to the public for safety reasons yet famous for its unique sound. Making this acoustic space experienceable elsewhere offers a new form of release: not merely music, but a room you can listen to.
