Lucy Collins - Inclusive assessment (UDL Practice at UCD)

In this video Lucy talks about developing an inclusive approach to assessment for her third-year seminar module – Yeats and the Arts: "my first aim in completing an assessment redesign was to motivate them to engage with a range of course topics. For the continuous assessment dimension of the module – which accounts for 50% of the overall grade – I devised ten short assessments. Students could attempt as many of these as they wished but would be graded on the best four."

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a core component of the Unviersity for All initiative in UCD. Using the framework and principles of Universal Design we can create an inclusive educational environment to benefit all students.

This digital badge course, part of the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching & Learning Professional Development Framework and created by AHEAD and UCD Access & Lifelong Learning provides participants with a strong introduction to the Universal Design for Learning Framework and gives them the opportunity to implement UDL approaches within the teaching activities they are currently undertaking.
