Police teams are conducting a combing operation to trace and arrest the absconding suspect.

The encounter reportedly took place during a police checkpoint operation after police received information about suspicious persons moving around the area. Two suspects travelling on a scooter allegedly opened fire at the police team when they were asked to stop.

According to police, the suspects fired several rounds at the police party. Two bullets reportedly hit the police vehicle, while another bullet struck the bulletproof jacket of a CIA personnel. The officer survived because he was wearing the protective jacket.

Police said they retaliated in self-defence and fired six rounds. One of the suspects was injured during the exchange of fire and was rushed to hospital, but he reportedly died on the way. The identity and other details of the deceased accused are being investigated.

🔴 Pakistan-Linked Conspiracy Under Investigation

According to the police investigation, the ASI Harjit Singh murder case may have links to alleged handlers operating from across the border in Pakistan. Police claim that young people are being lured with money and involvement in the illegal drug trade and are subsequently pushed towards criminal activities.

The police are investigating the alleged network, its handlers and the possible motive behind targeting a police officer.

📱 Accused Allegedly Returned to Crime Scene

Police have also claimed that after the killing of ASI Harjit Singh, the accused allegedly returned to the crime scene and recorded a video lasting around 30 to 40 seconds.

According to the police, the video was allegedly intended to be sent to handlers based abroad as proof of the attack. CCTV footage is being examined as part of the investigation.

📲 Mobile Phones Under Forensic Investigation

The mobile phones recovered from the accused are being subjected to forensic examination. Investigators are looking for possible call records, chats, contacts and other digital evidence that could help establish links with alleged foreign handlers and reveal the wider network behind the case.

🚔 Second Accused Still On The Run

The second accused reportedly escaped from the encounter location by taking advantage of the darkness. Police teams have launched a combing operation in the surrounding area and efforts are underway to locate and arrest him.
