How much faster is a DISK wheel? | Tested

Описание: I wanted to test just how much faster my new disk wheel and my new front wheel is compared to the stock wheel set which came with my bike.

Hi Jason. I did a rough calculation. The result is roughly as follows: Disc only: 16 W faster. Disc+83: 24 W faster.
Or in other words: with 55/55 you have to pedal these watts more to be just as fast.
I adjusted for a slight headwind/tailwind, otherwise the values would not have been comprehensible. But why the 83 front wheel is so much slower uphill is somewhat curious. My calculations are not precise enough for this, i.e. too imprecise to the decimal place. Actually, an 83 mm front wheel shouldn't really be slower at just under 30 km/h, but the higher weight of the disc also plays a role (only 5 W gain at 175 W base).
Rear discs are often really fast, especially in crosswinds.
0.8-1 km/h can quickly add up. Higher front wheels have less effect and you can see that here too. However, I have my doubts that the & watts only come from the 83 vs 55 rim. 55 mm is quite a good height, the tire width on the 55 probably plays a role here and the different tires play a very minor role. Your aero gains are all (too) large because they were measured on a downhill section with high wind speeds.
If you calculate with cda values without the downhill section, you get approx. 37.4, 38 and 38.3 km/h at 225W. The watt differences there would be: 9 and 14 watts. I calculated with a slight gradient of 0.1%. The values sound a bit more logical.
