Pension Dispute: PSC Urges Dialogue as Retired Officers Threaten Protest

Описание: The Police Service Commission (PSC) has criticised retired police officers planning a nationwide protest on Monday over pension-related grievances, describing the move as diversionary, ill-timed, and in bad taste.

In a statement issued Sunday, PSC spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani urged the retirees to embrace dialogue rather than confrontation, noting that the commission has long advocated for pension reform.

Retired officers have expressed frustration with what they describe as a
"discriminatory pension scheme" and claim that the government has ignored their demands.

Activists including former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore and civil society groups have reportedly backed the protest set for July 21.
