This song was originally recorded in April 1987 – in fact, there were two different versions at the time:

“My ships come in” (sung & written by Jamy)
“All the way” (sung & written by Don)

When I bought my first iMac in 2007 and started digitizing all my old tapes and cassettes, I rediscovered the song. Unfortunately, no written lyrics of Jamy’s version exist, and the quality of her vocal tracks was not good enough to understand the words clearly – it was more of an improvisation.

That’s why I chose Don’s lyrics (All the way). Since his version also deals with heartbreak – and the fragments of Jamy’s vocals point in the same direction – I blended some of her voice softly behind Don’s lead vocals in the new mix, as a subtle nod to the original.

🎸 The solo guitars are once again by Bob Host.
🥁 The drums were programmed by me.
🎹 And I played all the remaining tracks myself.

Dieser Song entstand ursprünglich im April 1987 – damals sogar in zwei Versionen:
• „My ships come in“ (gesungen & getextet von Jamy)
• „All the way“ (gesungen & getextet von Don)

Als ich 2007 meinen ersten iMac bekam und meine alten Tonbänder & Kassetten digitalisierte, habe ich den Song wiederentdeckt. Von Jamys Version gibt es leider keinen schriftlichen Text, und die Gesangsspuren waren improvisiert und schwer verständlich. Deshalb habe ich mich für Dons Text entschieden. ✨

👉 Da beide Versionen thematisch von enttäuschter Liebe handeln, habe ich beim neuen Mix Teile von Jamys Gesang dezent hinter Dons Stimme gelegt – als kleine Erinnerung an die ursprüngliche Aufnahme.

🎸 Die Sologitarren sind wie immer von Bob Host.
🥁 Die Drums habe ich programmiert.
🎹 Alle übrigen Spuren habe ich selbst eingespielt.
