Welcome back, Trailblazers! 🌟
In Session 3, we continued our journey in the Africa Ohana × Code With Sally Apex Beginner Sprint — and this session is absolutely critical for every participant in the cohort.
🎯 What We Covered in This Session
1️⃣ Housekeeping, Expectations & Sprint Structure
We revisited important rules for success in this sprint:
• Watch sessions in order — each builds on the previous one
• Don’t rush your homework
• Ask more questions — I’m here to help, and we learn together
• Slack is your community — collaboration is key
2️⃣ Celebrating Hard Work & Commitment
We highlighted participants who showed exceptional consistency this week 👏
And we recognized the top contributors in Camp Apex — amazing work!
3️⃣ Collections Homework Review
Many students struggled with some List, Set, and Map concepts, so we spent time reviewing:
• How to think about Collections
• Important methods you must understand
• Common mistakes and how to avoid them
• Live Q&A to reinforce the fundamentals
This review was extremely important — these foundations affect everything in Apex.
4️⃣ This Week’s Homework + The Final 13 Videos
We walked through the Week 3 homework, explained expectations clearly, and introduced the 13 videos students must watch this week (SOQL, SOSL, Triggers, Unit Testing, Exception Handling & Logs).
📌 Full homework details here:
https://github.com/CodeWithSally/Code...
This session explained exactly how and why these topics prepare you for the Final Project.
5️⃣ Final Project — Phase 1 Assigned
Huge moment! 🎉
We officially assigned Phase 1 of the Final Project, including:
• Creating Project__c and Project_Task__c
• Writing Triggers and Trigger Handlers
• Implementing business logic
• Writing comprehensive Unit Tests
• Working as a group (required!)
I explained expectations, deliverables, collaboration rules, and how each team should report progress.
We also shared that more requirements may be added next week, depending on overall progress — but nothing too heavy. The idea is to build slowly and confidently.
6️⃣ Optional Camp Apex Challenges for Extra Practice
We recommended specific Camp Apex modules for additional hands-on experience. These are optional but highly beneficial, especially for practicing collections, logic, and DML.
📌 Why This Session Is a MUST-WATCH
This session contains essential instructions for:
✔ What to do this week
✔ How to prepare for the Final Project
✔ How to work effectively as a group
✔ What is required for homework and project deliverables
✔ How to avoid mistakes that slow you down
If you’re in the sprint — you must watch this session from start to finish.
