Mangaluru: Anonymous Complainant Questioned for Two Days in Dharmasthala Mass Burial Case, SIT Chief Mohanty Joins Probe

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the sensational Dharmasthala mass burial allegations has intensified its investigation by questioning the anonymous complainant over the weekend.

The complainant, who claims to have buried hundreds of bodies in Dharmasthala, appeared before SIT officials at the IB office in Mallikatte, Mangaluru, on both Saturday and Sunday. He was brought in by lawyers and wore a black mask to protect his identity. His statements are being recorded by investigating officer Jitendra Kumar Dayama, with possible videographic documentation.




MANGALURU: In the ongoing investigation into the Dharmasthala mass burial case, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) reportedly found partial skeletal remains at site number 6 on the third day of the exhumation process on Thursday.The SIT continued the search operations based on the allegations made by the complainant witness, a former sanitation worker, who claimed he was coerced to bury bodies of women and minors in the village. While exhuming the sites shown by the complainant witness, the SIT found partial skeletal remains at site number 6 near the bathing ghat of the Nethravati River.

The case came back into public memory recently after Kannada YouTuber Sameer MD released a 39-minute video detailing the unsolved murder and the botched investigation. Although the video has renewed interest in the case and raised questions about justice for Sowjanya’s family, another key question remains: were the policemen responsible for the botched investigation held accountable? Though the CBI court said that the police officers should be probed it does not seem like the Karnataka Police Department has initiated any action against them.
