In the Trifinio-Fraternidad Transboundary Biosphere Reserve, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras are working together to reconnect nature across borders. This video shows how scaling up ecological connectivity helps protect biodiversity, support local communities and strengthen resilience through science, cooperation and shared stewardship of a living landscape. Through this project, the video highlights UNESCO’s impact by demonstrating how biosphere reserves—especially transboundary ones—can unlock their full potential to connect ecosystems beyond national boundaries. It showcases UNESCO’s role in bringing together global and local partners to advance international commitments, including the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. The video also explains the concept of ecological connectivity while reaffirming the core features of UNESCO Biosphere Reserves as living laboratories for harmony between people and nature.
