Range Rover Evoque (2012) DAB Module Replacement - A step-by-step guide

Step-by-step instructions below. Hopefully this helps someone…

Step 1 – Remove the rear parcel shelf and the two chrome tie-down clips (screw size T40).
Step 2 – Pop out the interior light and unplug the cable (it comes out quite easily, and the cable unplugs easily).
Step 3 – Lift up the rear trim panel which covers the back of the boot either side of the lock mechanism (again this come out quite easily – get your fingers under one end and lift vertically). I broke a clip doing this, so don’t be too aggressive with it!
Step 4 – Fold the rear seats and then remove the single T25 screw in the corner (this is the only screw holding on the side panel).
Step 5 – Pull/prise/coerce the panel off – start where the T25 screw was and there are various clips to work free. To be honest a bit of brute strength was needed here…. When you get near the speaker make sure you unplug the speaker cable as it’s really short.
Step 6 – The panel has to slide around the seat hook and then pulls away giving you access to the DAB module.
Step 7 – Replacing the DAB unit is easy – two retaining screws and all the cables unclip reasonably easily (press the catches to release each one).

That’s it! Once the unit is replaced follow the above steps in reverse... I did the job in 30mins and am pretty useless!!

I replaced my existing unit with a DAB module part number CPLA-14F720-BP and the audio connector with a Jaguar part number C2D22599 which is sold by Britcar (you can also buy the Land Rover part LR032814, but the LR part was £7 more expensive for what appears to be exactly the same hardware).

Why did I do this? My DAB module was faulty and causing the head unit amplifier to randomly cut out (no sound) intermittently – the sound could only be restored by turning the volume up or down. Replacing the DAB unit has mercifully fixed this error!!
