I'll show you how to freeze, store and then use your black beans so you can avoid them going in the bin!

So, Black Beans - Can I Freeze It?

🙌 Yep indeedy!

😬 I can’t possibly be the only one that finds I don’t always need a whole can of black beans

😩 I used to pop the leftovers in a tub in the fridge with the intention of using them the next day... only to discover them a week later 🤦‍♀️

❄️ So now the leftovers go into the freezer instead 🙌

🔥 No need to defrost them (unless baking), just chuck them still frozen into what ever you’re making and cook until they’re piping hot

💧 If you usually buy your black beans dried, I have good news for you too. Simply prep and cook them as normal, cool under running water and then follow the rest of the steps in the video.

📆 Frozen black beans will keep in the freezer for around 6 months, after this the quality will start to deteriorate

💚 If you use plastic freezer bags, they can be washed and reused, then once they wear out, they can now be recycled in the UK alongside carrier bags at supermarket collection points. Please wash well and dry before recycling. Please note compostable and biodegradable bags should not be put in plastics recycling. Look for the Home compost symbol when purchasing compostable freezer bags.
