We explore the uncomfortable truth that busyness has become a badge of honour in education, and how that belief quietly drives burnout, bottlenecks, and exhaustion. Not because you don’t care but because you care so deeply.
I reflect on my own experience as a deputy head and inclusion lead, where being constantly busy felt like validation. Where proving my worth meant doing more, holding more, and never stopping. And why that way of leading is not only unhealthy, but unsustainable.
In this video, we reframe what success in leadership actually looks like. We talk about empowerment, trust, and resourcing your team so that leadership isn’t all about you and why stepping back doesn’t make you irrelevant, it makes your leadership stronger.
This isn’t about doing nothing or caring less.
It’s about creating space to think, to lead strategically, to connect with your team and to build a culture where people can flourish including you.
