Описание: Join us with Alex Waitt, as we learn more about the Foundations of Motivational Interviewing. In this video, Alex guides us through understanding what best practice MI sounds like. We’ll learn how to engage from the motivational interviewing perspective. This video covers practical examples of how to use reflective listening and collaborative communication to influence motivation. By resolving ambivalence and evoking intrinsic motivation, you’ll be able to actively engage in conversation that helps with healthy decision-making.

Through his PA-based consulting firm Formative Outcomes, Alex works with mental health professionals to improve their proficiency and expertise in implementing evidence-based practices. Alex creates individualized and engaging training to improve health outcomes and strengthen clinical skills.

Strengthening the Heartland (STH) developed through the collaborative efforts of faculty from South Dakota State University Extension and North Dakota State University Extension. With generous grant support from the National Institute of Food and Agriculture and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, STH is dedicated to providing services that prevent opioid misuse in rural communities across the Dakotas.
