Atyap Buffet 2025: Honouring a Son of the Soil

Описание: On Saturday, 27 December 2025, people gathered at the Agwatyap's palace at Atak Njei, Zangon Kataf, Kaduna State, Nigeria, to celebrate the Atyap Buffet. This edition was specially organized to celebrate the Nigerian Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd.), who served as the 18th Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of Nigeria from 23 June 2023 until his retirement on 30 October 2025. He resumed his current role on 4 December 2025.

The event's theme is "Harnessing Democratic Processes for Sustainable Community Development in Atyap Land". In attendance were HH Agwam (Sir) Dominic Gambo Yahaya (Agwatyap III/Agwam Zangon Kataf), several Southern Kaduna chiefs, politicians like Hon. Alhassan Ado Garba (Ado Doguwa, representing the Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives - Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen), Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe (Deputy Governor, Kaduna State - representing the state governor), Hon. Engr. Joseph Gaiya (Chair, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area), Prof. John Gambo Laah (Buffet Guest Speaker), chieftaincy title awardees, members of the event Central Organizing Committee, members of the clergy, members of the press, members of the Tyap Wikimedians User Group, and the general public.

The A̱tyap /ə̀tʲàb/ are one of the ethnic groups in Southern Kaduna who speak the Tyap /tʲàb/ language (a Nenzit/Platoid/Central Nigerian language), and call their land A̱tyap /ə̀tʲàb/ or A̱byin A̱tyap /ə̀bʲín ə́tʲab/.

Their chiefdom was renamed during the administration of Nasir el-Rufai (2015-2023) from Atyap Chiefdom to Zangon Kataf Chiefdom.
