NCR Computer History: An overview of early NCR Computers. National Cash Register Company was one of the largest cash register & calculating machine companies during the 1920's through 1970's. Founded in Dayton, Ohio, a giant in manufacturing business machines, was also involved in the secret manufacture of codebreaking machines during 1940's, under direction of head of NCR electrical research laboratory, Joseph R. Desch, a brilliant engineer. Here is a brief look back at some of their machines and computers, through vintage photos and films, including a small sampling of their extensive product line of cash register machines and computing devices.
