12. Oktober 2025: Chris Farlowe – eine der unverwechselbarsten Stimmen des britischen Blues – reiste im Alter von 85 Jahren nach Köln, um bei der Veröffentlichung der neuen Biografie „THE VOICE“ persönlich anwesend zu sein. Eingeladen hatte ihn sein langjähriger Freund und Biografieautor Peter Brummund. Doch was Farlowe nicht ahnte: Der Abend des 12. Oktober 2025 war als Überraschung für ihn geplant.

In der Kölner Blueskneipe „Torburg“ erwarteten ihn an diesem Vorabend seines Geburtstages nicht nur der Autor, sondern auch langjährige Weggefährten, Fans und Musiker. Erst vor Ort erfuhr Farlowe, dass sich die Runde versammelt hatte, um gemeinsam auf die Veröffentlichung des Buches und sein Lebenswerk anzustoßen.

Statt sich lediglich feiern zu lassen, griff Farlowe kurzerhand selbst zum Mikrofon – begleitet von der Jimmy Reiter & Kai Strauss Band. Unter den Gästen befanden sich u. a. Leigh Blond und viele vertraute Gesichter aus mehreren Jahrzehnten Musikgeschichte. Der Abend wurde zu einem spontanen, sehr persönlichen Konzertmoment – und markierte zugleich den inoffiziellen Start der Buchveröffentlichung in Deutschland.

October, 12th: At the age of 85, Chris Farlowe – one of the most distinctive voices in British blues – travelled all the way to Cologne to attend the launch of his new biography, ‘THE VOICE’, at the invitation of his old friend and biographer, Peter Brummund. Little did Farlowe know that there was a surprise in store for him on the evening of 12 October 2025.

On the eve of his birthday, he was met by the author and long-time associates, fans and musicians at the ‘Torburg’ blues bar in Cologne, only to learn upon his arrival that everyone had gathered there to celebrate the publication of the book and his life's work.

Rather than just sitting back and enjoying, Farlowe spontaneously grabbed the microphone – accompanied by The Jimmy Reiter & Kai Strauss Band. Among the guests were Leigh Blond and many familiar faces from several decades of music history. The evening turned into a spontaneous and very personal concert moment – marking at the same time, the unofficial launch of the book in Germany.
