With electronic drums and bass plus some badass swampy guitar ZZ Top ruled the 1980`s.
This track is based around a riff in the key of A using 4th intervals, Cheap Sunglasses and Tush are both examples of the power of this sound. One thing ZZ are skilled at is retaining their blues roots yet at the same time updating their sound.
This BT takes 24 bars to cycle round instead of 12 so it still retains a connection to a blues boogie as 24 is 2X12(I know obvious but maths is not a strong subject for me), the riff in 4ths goes from A (the I chord) to implying D (the IV chord) but the bass stays on A giving a more contemporary rock sound.
So the progression is
A///A///A///D///
A///A///A///D///
A///A///A///D///
A///A///A///D///
G///G///F///F/Bb/
A///A///A///D///
For soloing both pentatonic and blues scales in A work over this backing track.
ok time to go nationwide.
