Welcome back to our $1,000 house restoration journey! This week was intense. We started by protecting the foundation with a reinforced concrete apron to fight off moisture. Inside, the house is unrecognizable: we finished the demolition, changed the floor plan, and poured a solid foundation for the future stove.
Despite a week-long break, the village is blooming, and we’re back at it—clearing roads, reclaiming old firebricks, and fighting a battle against an incredibly tough slag foundation to install plumbing. From a 30-meter drainage trench to a new brick hallway, every step brings us closer to making this ruin a home.
In this video:
Concrete apron & foundation protection
Rethinking the interior layout
Reclaimed firebricks vs. old stove bricks
Drilling through a slag foundation (The hardest part!)
Building a greywater drainage system
Subscribe to follow our progress one brick at a time!
