How to Build a DIY Double Fence Setup for a Table Router

Описание: This isn't our normal video here but I wanted to show the behind the scenes for how I built a roller jig setup with a double fence for our table router downdraft table. I know there are a lot of people on Youtube looking at woodworking videos and how to make DIY projects so hopefully this helps you guys out!

For what we do at the drum shop this may be more specialized and specific than most woodworkers out there, but its exactly what we needed for repetitive tasks around the shop. We cut inlay channels into kick drum hoops and snare drums on occasion so we needed a roller jig with a double fence to control where the cut is as the product rotates on the rollers. With different widths going into the cut area we needed it to be double sided and easily centered. This ladder style fence system was just what we needed and is working great for our cuts.

Of course you could take this idea and build a similar jig fence setup without the rollers too and that would work for a lot of normal cuts. You could even use just one side of the fence and have it set for what you need. However, the way we designed and built this jig makes it so that the fence stays square to the bit because of the sliding area being limited within the ladder style base so you wouldn't be able to build something like this for pieces you need to slide through.
