Iran-Israel War: The Middle East conflict has taken another dangerous turn. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (the IRGC) says it launched a direct strike on Israel’s energy infrastructure, targeting a major oil refinery in the northern city of Haifa late Saturday night. According to Iranian state media, the strike was carried out using Kheibar Shekan solid-fuel ballistic missiles, powerful long-range weapons designed for high-precision attacks. Tehran described the move as retaliation for what it calls joint U.S.–Israeli attacks on Iran’s own energy facilities.
Iran’s Mehr news agency reported that the Bazan Group oil refinery in Haifa Bay was the intended target. The facility is not just any refinery — it is Israel’s largest oil-processing complex, supplying roughly 50 to 60 percent of the country’s domestic fuel needs. Air-raid sirens reportedly echoed across the Haifa region earlier in the evening as residents rushed to shelters. However, Israeli authorities have not confirmed any direct hit on the refinery, according to Reuters. Still, videos circulating across social media claim to show flashes and explosions near the industrial zone. Those clips, however, remain unverified.
The latest escalation comes as the wider war between Iran and the U.S.-Israel alliance continues to intensify. The conflict erupted on February 28, when joint U.S. and Israeli strikes hit targets inside Iran. Since then, the region has seen waves of missile attacks, air strikes, and mounting casualties.
According to officials cited by the Associated Press, the war has already killed more than 1,230 people in Iran, over 300 in Lebanon, and around a dozen in Israel, and the cycle of retaliation shows no sign of slowing. With energy infrastructure now directly in the crosshairs on both sides, analysts warn that the conflict is entering a far more dangerous phase, one that could threaten regional stability and send shockwaves through global energy markets. Meanwhile, the IRGC Spokesperson on Sunday said that Iran can continue an “intense war” with the United States and Israel for at least six months at the current pace of operation
Meanwhile, the Israeli Prime Minister said the attacks against Iran would continue. He also warned that Iran would face more surprises in the future. Netanyahu made these remarks while responding to the growing tensions following the latest round of strikes. US President Donald Trump speaks to reporters on Saturday about the war deadline and vows more strikes against Iran
