This growth is driven by a strong order pipeline and faster execution of defence projects. By the end of 2025, many companies have projects worth 4 times their annual revenue!

Since 2015, the Indian government has been consistently increasing investments in the defence sector, giving a boost to companies manufacturing tanks, ships, fighter jets, and advanced weapons under the 'Make in India' initiative. Domestic procurement has become the top priority.

Profit margins for Indian defence companies are also expected to remain strong – between 25-27% – as they shift from making just parts to producing complete systems like drones, radars, and missile platforms, all within India.

Thanks to initiatives like Aatmanirbhar Bharat, components that were once imported are now being manufactured domestically. This has increased investments and helped India become an arms exporter as well.

The share of domestic procurement has risen from 61% in 2017 to an estimated 75% by 2025. Defence exports have seen 15x growth, reaching ₹23,622 crore by 2025. Meanwhile, the defence budget for 2026 has allocated a massive ₹1.92 lakh crore for weapons and equipment.

While growth and profits are strong, private companies still face working capital challenges. However, with strong government policies, rising exports, and local manufacturing, the future of India’s defence industry looks extremely bright! 💡
