Filmed between 10:30 and 15:30 on 25th February 2026, this session captures five hours of relentless traffic at Reading railway station, one of the busiest and most diverse main line hubs in the UK.

The headline appearance comes from Class 220 220033 in its brand-new Cross Country livery, working 1E36 — my taxi down from New Street. The repaint caused serious interest on the platform, with even drivers pausing for selfies in front of the unit.

From high-speed IET departures to steady freight movements, Reading once again proves why it’s one of the UK’s most rewarding filming locations.

One of the standout aspects of this session was the sheer variety on display — not just in traction, but in liveries as well. From freshly repainted units turning heads on the platform to weathered freight locomotives showing the marks of hard main line work, Reading delivered a constant mix of colour and character. High-speed bi-modes, regional multiple units, heavy freight power and classic intercity sets all shared the same stretch of railway, creating a visual and operational contrast that kept the action engaging from start to finish.
