The memorial commemorates the events of the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, which killed over 2,400 Americans, The attack on Pearl Harbor caused the entry of the United States into World War II.
The memorial is a “place of remembrance and contemplation of the nature of war and the sacrifices of those who lost their lives during the Pacific War.”
