4 Strong Clove Hitch Upgrades. Old hitch. New power.

Описание: In this video I show 4 simple ways to use and upgrade the Clove Hitch (ABoK #11).
These hitches are good for yachting, camping, work in the garden or in the garage.

You can see how to make the classic hitch, how to add a small “upgrade”, and how to use stronger versions with extra wraps.

Part 1 – Classic Clove Hitch
First, I tie the classic Clove Hitch on a round bar (tube).
It is an old knot made from two simple half-hitches around the object.
It is good to fix the middle of the rope to a post, rail, or ring.
It is fast and easy, but not always very safe if the pull changes.

Part 2 – Clove Hitch with a stop knot
Next, I tie the same Clove Hitch, but add a small stopper knot on the working end (in the short it is a simple Overhand Knot).
This is a small trick so the hitch can work better with one-way pull downwards.
It is still for temporary use, but more safe than the classic form.

Part 3 – Clove Hitch with an extra wrap
Here I tie Clove Hitch with an extra wrap.
The extra turn makes more friction and the hitch holds better when the load changes.
This is a good choice when you want the rope to stay in place, but still be easy to untie.

Part 4 – Double Clove Hitch on a tube
In this part I tie a Double Clove Hitch on the tube.
It is a Clove Hitch with one more wrap.
This knot can take more load and still does not jam hard.
It works well when the load is not constant and you need a stronger grip.

Part 5 – Double Clove Hitch on a thicker rope
Now I use the Double Clove Hitch to tie a thin cord to a much thicker rope.
This is a classic use: the double form holds thin rope to thick rope better than the simple Clove Hitch.
It is useful to lift tools or long objects with a helper line.

Part 6 – Clove Hitch with a double tuck
In the last part I tie Clove Hitch with a double tuck.
The working end goes under the wraps two times.
This makes the hitch strong and stable, even when the pull changes direction.

In this video you can see how a simple Clove Hitch becomes much more reliable, when we add extra wraps and tucks.
These upgraded hitches are stronger and safer than the classic form and still fast to tie and easy to untie.
