Charted at #17 in 1929 for 1 week. Ben Selvin is pictured playing the violin. Vocal refrain by Smith Ballew. From the musical, "On With the Show". This great song was originally recorded by Ethel Waters in 1929, and immediately proved to be a huge seller. Other top-selling versions from 1929 include those by Libby Holman, Annette Hanshaw (whose version I've also posted), Nat Shilkret and Tom Gerun. Cher bubbled under the Hot 100 at #111 with her interpretation in May 1973.
